Continental Holdings Plc is a fast-growing financial services group primarily involved in banking, stock broking and dealing, commodities broking, asset and fund management, property management and development and pension administration.
Continental Holdings Plc was incorporated under Company registration number 9985 on 18th May 2009 and commenced operations on 2nd April 2012. The Company’s shareholders are TransAfrica Holdings Limited (34.35%), Press Trust (17.8%), an Employee Share Ownership Program (9.98%), and public and institutional share holders (37.87%).

Incorporated on 23rd September 1996 in Mauritius as an investment holding company with the objective of building an Africa-wide network of specialized financial service institutions.

Press Trust is a public trust incorporated under the Press Trust Reconstruction Act of 1995. It has investments across various sectors in Malawi, acting as a trust for the citizens of Malawi. It is governed by trustees who determine the contributions Press Trust will make towards national development and the betterment of Malawians.

This program was created through a resolution of CHL’s Board of Directors to enable employees of the CHL Group to acquire shares in the Company under the ESOP Trust Deed and the various staff remuneration policies of Continental Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries.

Following the Company’s successful Initial Public Offering and listing on the Malawi Stock Exchange, shares in Continental Holdings Plc are held by members of the investing public and institutional investors who subscribed to the offer or acquired shares on the exchange.
