As part of its commitment to transforming lives through education, Continental Capital Limited (CCL) proudly continues its annual scholarship initiative, launched in partnership with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS). The scholarship, valued at K1 million per student, supports two students each academic year over a three-year period, covering full tuition costs.
In the inaugural year, 2024, the recipients were first-year student Emmanuel Banda and third-year student Martha Koroma. Both students have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and resilience in the face of financial and personal challenges, leading to the renewal of their scholarships for the 2025 academic year.
Turning struggles into strength
For Martha Koroma, now entering her final year, the scholarship has been a turning point in her academic journey. “My academic life has really improved since then because of the two years of peace having tuition fees without struggles,” she shared. “The scholarship has been a game changer for me. It has allowed me to focus more on my studies… I am no longer a depressed person, and I have peace of mind.”
Martha’s dreams extend beyond graduation. “I dream of making a significant impact in Malawi’s health care system by providing quality health care services in rural areas,” she said. She also aspires to pursue further studies in critical care nursing to support patients with life-threatening conditions such as kidney failure.
A life-changing intervention
Emmanuel Banda, now in his second year, echoed similar sentiments. “The Continental Capital scholarship came to my rescue on the tuition challenge. It relieved my stress and pressure on academics,” he said. “It has given me peace of mind and I am empowered to work hard… a great privilege I will always cherish.”
Despite earlier hardships—borrowing money for accommodation and selling a portion of his family’s farmland to stay afloat—Emmanuel emerged stronger. “I promise to work hard and contribute to quality health care as part of the health care workforce,” he affirmed.
A message of hope and responsibility
Continental Capital’s General Manager, Mr. Kenneth Mmadi, reflected on the initiative’s broader vision:
“We believe that education is the most powerful tool for sustainable transformation. By supporting these brilliant students, we are not just investing in individual futures—we are investing in the future of Malawi’s health care system. We are proud of Martha and Emmanuel’s accomplishments and remain committed to nurturing talent and resilience.
The scholarship initiative will continue in 2026, reaffirming Continental Capital’s long-term commitment to impact, inclusion, and national development.
